gday all,
am tearing my hair out as have installed SP2 and now
can't access the file menu, delete files, view their
properties without crashing explorer and triggering
DrWatson to pop up stating a crash
This is a copy of the error signature
EventType : BEX P1 : drwtsn32.exe P2 :
5.1.2600.0 P3 : 3b7d84a2
P4 : dbghelp.dll P5 : 5.1.2600.2180 P6 :
4110969a P7 : 0001295d
P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000

Have tried unistalling SP2, computer returns to normal no
problem. Reinstall SP2 and problem comes back.
Cheers

Don't reinstall SP2 untill you have cleaned your system
of viruses and spywares. It is not SP2 that is the problem.
It is the wretched state of your system that is the problem.

I have the exact problem, and haven't had any luck with a solution. I know I
have a clean system! No Spyware or viruses. But what I hear is that Dvix
codec's may have something to do with the problem and some people where able
to resolve their issues when they uninstalled Dvx and then applied SP2.
There is a upgrade for Dvix on WinXP SP2 also. I tried upgrading to the new
version of Dvix(Wile on running SP2) and was not able to fix my computer, so
I reverted back to when it use to work. I have upgrade twice and both times
had the same trouble.

I install SP2 and then started to get a the same kind of error you describe,
can't delete, rename, get properties or context menus to work and DrWatson
would run and hang the system, If you do Ctrl-Alt-Del and stop the
drwtsn32.exe process then you can get back to your system.
If you find a solution please can you post so we can benefit from your
experience.

Y hope this helps you in some way!

Cool, I do have divx installed, will try and remove and
reinstall. Will let you know how succesful.

I have a clean, (or as best I can tell) sysytem as well.
Ran a spyware killer and virus checker before install.

Vuj,

the most likely culprit is not just DivX, but a program called
Dr. DivX.

For details please see

Problem fixed, Dr Divx was the culprit. UNinstalled SP2,
removed dr Divx from system then reinstalled SP2. ALl
works happily now....
