SP2 RC2

Martin Shaw

Downloading & installing above Beta s/w - very near finish I received an
"extended error" and just wondering if that has anything to do with the fact
that my Network Connections icon in Ctl panel no longer works, however, I
notice one can configure existing connections via the new firewall icon, is
this default ?

thanks

Martin,

If you are having system problems prior to installing SP2 RC2 you must fix
them first.
Installation of SP2RC2 on a system with problems may only serve to compound
the issue or make resolution more complex.

Your final option should be to manually run the file
%windir%\$NTServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

If this does not work then you may have to reinstall you entire system.

Are you sue you have SP2 RC2 installed ?

The folder is a hidden one so ,make sure you have turned on all the folder
options to display hidden and system folders and (un)Hide protected
operating system files

Actually, the computer you *were* on had SP2 RC2 installed. The one you
are on right now doesn't. My computer shows the computer you are using
right now to post these messages is still running only SP1.

I did whatever I can still got no.
So can you tell me when to down it? I mean "spuninst.exe".
Thank.

Best regards

I have given you the location of the spuninst.exe file
%windir%\$NTServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
and told you to turn on the ability to see all hidden and system files.

The folder that the file is in contains a huge number of files so it is not
just a matter of putting one file back if you do not have it.
You require the entire folder structure and all the files that were saved
there as part of the setup of SP2.

If it is NOT at that location then you have a very failed setup and would be
advised to get all you data off that machine and cleanly reinstall the OS.

Just in case you do not understand %windir% refers to the location of the
default installation folder for Windows.
So on my machine it is C:\WINDOWS
I used this notation as you may have a chosen to install to a different
location.

He also may want to set his system time back to the real date. He is in

As I have already said - if after following all my instructions and you
still do not have the necessary uninstall folder etc on your PC you only
option is to reformat and cleanly reinstall (after you have backed up all
relevant data files etc).
