SP2 -- Is this just the security center?

Is there anything of use in Service Pack 2 besides the Windows Security Center?

If so, is there anyway to turn off the security center? I find it
unnecessary since I have a firewall and antivirus software already. I also
don't like the assumption that the SW offered through the security center is
better than what I already have, or that the security center is software that
is always running on my system without anyway of turning it off.

My first reaction would be to un-install the service pack, but I am curious
if there is actually anything useful there.

Thanks,

SP2 re-writes a few million lines of code.. do not uninstall it.. now go to
Control Panel and find the Windows Security icon.. double click it.. feel
free to look around and check stuff out,, one of the options is to 'change
the way Security Center alerts me'..

security center can be disbaled totally from the 'services' under 'control
panel'-> 'administrative tools'. disable the 'security center' service.

JT;
The Security Center itself is just a monitor for essential
protections.
Nothing is offered through Security Center unless you are counting the
Windows firewall which is monitored by the Security Center and not
part of it.

If you are getting warnings, there are a few causes:
1. You have a problem you need to resolve.
2. Your particular application manufacturer has not made the
necessary updates to be monitored by the Security Center.
The manufacturer and not Microsoft needs to make the changes.

Or you can disable the appropriate monitor:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Security Center
On the left side click "Change the way..."
Make selections as desired.
