sp2 install freeze

while installing sp2 from net or a CD, I get as far as "installation
complete, running application processes" or something to this effect, and the
install goes to never-never land... forever..... (cpu running at about 4%)
until I stop sp2 and reboot (then revert). Norton Firewall and SystemWorks
(NAV) 2003 disabled, 12-Gig free
512-Meg memory, 2.4-Gig P4
