SP2 Crash/Re-Install on new HD. How do I access the files in my old profile?

Greetings,
Last week I attempted to Install Windows XP on my home computer. It failed
three times but didn't seem to do any damage. Seeing as how it is such a
large fix, a retry or two didn't seem inappropriate. However, on Saturday,
the reinstall of the SP2 got closer than ever, but failed very close to
completion. However, after this failure, the machine would not boot up at
all. I just got a black screen with a mouse pointer visible.

After 6-8 hours on the phone with Technical Support, the issue was still
unresolved. Since I needed access to a working computer, I went out, bought
another Hard drive and made the old hard drive a slave and transferred my
older files over. This worked fine with the exception of the fact that on
the old computer I had a profile called "Mike." This had my "My Documents"
folder in it, as well as was the repository for all of my outlook emails as
well as all of the files on my desktop. These files are absolutely crucial
to my coursework and I can't recover them. However, when I try to open the
folder for the Mike profile, I get an errors that says "Access Denied." This
old profile was password protected but I still know the password since it
was my own. The password is also the same as the administrator password on
both the old and new hard drives. How can I access these files. I have tried
changing the permissions many times and don't even seem to be allowed to do
that even in safe mode logged in as the administrator.

Thanks in advance.

You need to "Take Ownership" of the folder. If you use the windows "Help &
Support" and search for take ownership that should give you the info you
need.

probably use the COPY cmd.Try search at microsoft,type:307654
