I didn't know Service Packs could break the caps lock keys too, you do have
problems.

Sounds like you just need to include some simple information so people can
tell you how to fix your problem.

C

Carey Frisch [MVP]

Yes, please turn-off your computer and stay away from it.
You should not be detracted from your school homework,
especially English composition and your innate ability to yell
"fire!" in a movie theater.

What can I say? I installed it and didn't have any problems at all. It even
fixed the red X instead of a picture problem I had. You did make a backup
before you made such a major change, didn't you?

Caplocks doesn't improve your post.

If you can be more specific on your errors and issues I'm sure there are
people who can help.

You forgot to mention that it caused you caps lock key to stick.

It does not "bREAK eVERYTHING." You'll probably want to read the Security
section of this page.

NOW MY COMPUTER CAN'T TALK
TO TOHER PC'SANYMORE HERE AT HOME

That's the firewall, but it's only inbound. If the other PCs have firewalls
as well, you'll need to tell them that PCs on the local subnet are trusted
(assuming you trust them...). This is working as intended.
AND IT COMPLAINS ABOUT
FIREWALL ANF ANTIVIRUS.

Yup. That's the security center. Turn your firewall on and install
Antivirus software, and you won't have to worry about it complaining. This
is working as intended.
cANT ACCESS VARUOIS WEBPAGES

I'm guessing that the real problem is that you're getting popups blocked, or
certain ActiveX controls aren't loading by default anymore. This is a
security modification. Look for the information bar at the top of the
screen for more information about what's going on. This is probably working
as inteded.
EVEN THE WAY MY COMPUTER LOOKS WHEN IT IS STARTING
UP IS DIFFERENT!!!

The splash screen during the boot-up process has been changed in SP2. This
is working as intended.
yOU WOULD BE WELL WARRNED TO STAY AWAY!!!

No. No, you wouldn't.

If "cANT ACCESS VARUOIS WEBPAGES" is the problem then it must be British Telecom, your ISP assuming you are in ther UK. All porn sites are blocked by them and they also report people to Child Protection Unit of British Police who visits such sites.

If SP2 damages keyboard then it is serious :); Are you sure your fingers are clean and not sticky of dirty/grisly cakes you have been eating all day?

Perfect Post Mike. Be ready for more exactly like this. People just
don't know how to configure the computer with the new security enhancements.

It is critical for everyone to install this update as it will patch so
many security problems in Windows (including IBK errors). It may take a
little while to learn how to use the new features such as Windows
Firewall and DEP, but hopefully everyone will now learn a little more
about computer security.

Also, if you have any questions about Service Pack 2, I highly recommend
joining the Expert Zone Chat Sessions for Service Pack 2. Check the
schedule here to see if there is one you can make it to:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/chats/default.mspx

True but if they new how to configure their computers they wouldn't need the
new "enhancements"

Hi nAN
It sounds like SP2 is working as it should, if your seeing pop-ups regarding
your firewall and antivirus this is an indication that there is perhaps a
problem which requires your attention, you should open the security center
to see what it actually is. Some websites do not work properly if actions
they are trying to do are blocked, for example if they are using pop-ups
which are being caught or they are attempting to install components. If the
websites you are viewing are creating a small bar at the top of the IE
window you will need to right click it and authorise the action if you trust
the site. The boot screen being different is an intended change under SP2.
As for network access to other machines your firewall probably doesn't have
an exception to allow for file and printer sharing. When you open the
security center (double click the red shield in the system tray), click on
Windows Firewall, the exceptions tab and ensure file and printer sharing has
a check in its box.

When I read this message the security center in SP2 popped up a
message....idiot alert. I guess SP2 is working as planned.

Oh dear Carey you are one to talk. Look up the definition of detracted
please. If English is not your first language or you aren't familiar with
it's idiosyncrasies then please refrain from using it. I rather suspect you
meant distracted not detracted. }:~)

I'm appaled. Even the supposed MVP's reply with ignorance and stupidity. So
what the guy posted in caps, he or she is pissed. Don't tell me all you
people who reply don't get mad. Cut with the stupidity in return and try your
best for a change to give help not criticism. SP2 may break some peoples
computers and it will take some time for people to become familiar with its
idiosyncrasies. Until then learn some patience and empathy. Including you
Bruce. }:~(
