SP2 and printer

Kelly

I installed SP2 yesterday and cannot get my printer to
print. It's an HP Deskjet 940c and I've ran through all
the Windows Help printer troubleshooting guides. I've
also downloaded the latest HP driver for the printer and
coursed through all available instructions, including
removing my printer driver and cleansing the system of
previous upgrade driver information. I have restarted the
system several times and connected two different USB
cables. From my understanding the printer is being
recognized by the system and the driver states that the
printer is ready. The only thing that doesn't seem right
is that I get an error when trying to print where no
response comes from the printer hardware of any kind.

Please inform me of any inconsistencies in SP2 or guide me
onto the path of resolving this issue.

I have a lexmark x63 that shows it is ready also but when
I try to print it say the printer is busy. Lexmark had
me try everything they could think of but no help.

Maybe a dumb response but when I install SP2 with my HP
all in one, I uninstalled then all in one and after SP2
was up and going reinstalled it. Worked great for me and
thats what HP told me what to do.

kelly,

also try the printers newsgroup, plenty of information on
hp in there...maybe a solution.

1. does windows xp come with the drivers for you printer?
if so try using them first. by adding hardware.

2. is there any additional software that is being added
when installing the drivers from hp(ie. hp director...etc)?

3. do you have a seperate scanner attached via usb?

4. did it work prior to sp2? if so, there are many
unexplained problems with just hp and xp, and even more
problems with hp and sp2, try restoring prior to and see
if it works again as a last resort.

I just got my hp 4110 all in one working after 2 months of
pain and suffering, it has to do with the scanner side of
the house. it's on the printers newsgroup under hp 4110.

good luck...
