SP1 question

I have a rather stupid question. I have had my laptop for
a year. Win XP home.

I have downloaded (via WIndows Update) all critical
updates, and basically all other updates with the
exception of ones that do not apply to my computer.

I'm having home network difficulties, and been reading a
lot of bullitens on the microsoft site.

First of all, how do I know if I have the SP1 installed,
and what is this SP1a out? Do these SP's get included in
the Windows updates?

Thanks!

right mouse click on MY COMPUTER, select properties, Look at the info under
system, if you have SP1 it will be so noted.

SP1a is SP1 without the MS virtual java machine. MS can no longer distribute
it because sun sued them. So they removed it from the sp1 and created sp1a.

Go into Control Panel and click on System. Under the
general tab it will tell you if you have Sp1 (service pack
1) installed. Sp1a is pretty much the same thing as Sp1,
w/o a few things you don't need to worry about. If Sp1a
isn't showing up in Windows Update (all service packs can
be found here when their final release comes out) you
either have it or you have a problem with the site.
