Hi,

I've been using Vista for a year.
So far, all patches were regularly automatically installed without any
problem.

Vista SP1 has been released 10 days ago but windows update tells me that my
windows is up to date !

It does not find SP1.....

What's wrong ?

This reply is misleading! SP1 is available via Microsoft update....I ran MSU
and SP1 downloaded no problem.

"Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows
Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates" is not a statement, it's the
title of a knowledge base article.

Well, I'm very unlucky...

I have the Sigmatel audio driver and this driver is not compatible with
SP1.
The company who designed it no longer maintain it.

see this microsoft post:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...fc5-9bc1-2d1d0de6daee&lang=en&cr=US&sloc=&p=1

My only luck is either Sony or Microsoft persuade the initial company to
update this driver.
The post seems to say that microsoft might release a patch to solve this
problem.....

No SP1 for me.....

My brand new Dell Precision laptop has a Stigmata audio driver but it seems
that Dell have sourced their own driver for it (from IDT) which is
compatible with SP1. I know because I am running with SP1 and certainly
still have sound.

I am not sure if the driver on my laptop would work on your machine but if
you want to try it drop me a line and I'll send you the one I have.

That's what the Outlook spell checker thinks of SigmaTel!
