SP 2- I give up!

OK ... I have Automatic Update set up, but I was never able to get SP 2 to
install. That's OK, since I have a dial-up connection and didn't want to
download such a large file that way. So I waited until it was available for
download, and I went to a place with a free wireless high-speed connection
to install it. It spent nearly an hour downloading, got to 100% (72 MB and
change) and then just froze. Nothing happened. I had to cancel. And when
I went to try to start over again, I got the notice that Microsoft had
suspended the availability of downloads. Sheesh! I give up. I'm ordering
the CD.

It appears to be a normal procedure for the download to stop a 100% for up
to 10 minutes. I have no idea what it is doing during that time, but after
its "coffee break" it returns to do a verification of the download, and that
take another 15 minutes.
You are better off getting the CD. Then if you have to re-install Windows,
you don't have to download SP2 again.

Well, I downloaded the *full* update (272MB) in less than 15 minutes via
RoadRunner's high speed cable connection. Burned it to a CD and installed on
another box -- no problems at all (although the installation of the update
took a while on a 366 MhZ AMD K6-2)

Charles...
