Loading SP 3

I have tried to set up the SP 3.
The pack downloads, but when it starts to install, after a few minutes,
shows a failure ... unable to install some of the program.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

If anyone can assist me it sure would help.

Thanks

Big Al ...
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I did try to downolad and install from the Windows Update.
I wonder if I really need to run it or leave it out ... Although I may not
be able to run without it.
Again, thanks for the info.

SP3 is not "required" yet that I know of, but some day, it would not
surprise me to hear that comment.

Hi. My laptop (Toshiba with Intel Centrino duo) automatically updated to SP3
two weeks ago tomorrow and I have not been able to boot it yet. I am running
XP Pro.

I tried to start in all modes (Safe, etc.) with no luck, bought new RAM,
hoping that was it, NO. Microsoft has not helped. I got a generic reply about
using the XP disk to try and recover, which I did but I get the following:

***STOP: 0x000000FE (0xC0000005, 0xF76450BF, 0xF7A91208, 0xF7A90F08)

***pci.sys- Address F76450BF base at 763E000, DateStamp 3b7d855c

Before I just reinstall all the OEM files, I was hoping someone here might
have another solution? I've read a lot about removing specific files but how
can I do that when I can't get into the laptop?

Thanks,
Terry

Hey guys ..
I'm afraid that I am in the category with the Internet 7 install (and it
doesn't work very well anyway)

I have tried to uninstall it, but I can't get rid of the dang thing ...

I wish I had not even tried to download/install the SP3
..
My back's against the wall.
It's almost like playing a game of chess ... I make a move, it makes a move,
etc
..
I went to all of the websites suggested and the that's hits closer to home
is the "already partially installed"

Any further help ?

Thanks guys,
Amber

If you saw one of the links, hopefully I gave it, but if you install IE7
then SP3, you can't uninstall IE7.

I'm confused as your message is "loading SP3" but then in a later
message you start talking about IE7.

Did you have any USB devices plugged in when you tried the recovery
suggestion? If so, unplug them and try it again.
