Sounds way too fast...

I recently installed XP Pro and have noticed that when MS media player
or other programs play sound files, they're playing "fast", i.e. like
jumping-up the speed on a tape or record. Any suggestions/adjustments
possible?
TIA
Bill.

I have seen this happen when you use the wrong driver. When you install XP
it will pick a built in driver that is close but may not be right. Install
the driver that came with your motherboard or sound card.

It's the right driver, its just that in you sound sys tray, usually a little
speaker icon, will have settings to enable you to speed up and slow down all
of your audio options. There are also options to change the sound type such
as concert, stadium, etc.

Bill,

You can adjust the paying speed in Windows Media player:

1) Open Media Player.
2) Right click on the Windows flag in the top left corner.
3) Select "View".
4) Select "Enhancements".
5) Select "Play Speed Settings".

The Play Speed Settings will now appear at the bottom of the Media Player
window. You can adjust them to your preferred setting.

Let me know if this works, please.

Mitch:
You nailed it - followed your instructions & I no longer feel like I'm
in a hyper-speed dimension! I didn't realize that rt clicking the media
player logo would drop-down such critical settings.
Thanks again to all who replied & Happy Holidays

Bill,

I stumbled on it myself having had the same problem. Glad it worked.

Have a great holiday yourself.
