Sounds TOO slow.

Windows 2000: Media Player 9, CD player, steaming web radio
all play too slow. It sounds like audio files are playing
maybe 30% slower than they should. Can anyone tell me how
to solve this problem?

I am running Windows Professional SP4. I updated the 6
latest HOTFIX's from the microsoft WEBsite. One was for
Windows Media Player [wm828026], I think another was for
DirectX, te remainder for Windows2000.

HELP!

Thanks,
Gary

Well, You can have my extra 30%. Mine is playing files
faster than it should. Strange. I even rolled back to
the origianl SP4 media player to the same result.

Something has definately gone wrong.

You can adjust the speed in Windows Media Player.

Click Play Menu | Play Speed
-or-
View menu | Enhancements | Play Speed Settings

Range -16 (slowest) to +16 (fastest)
1.0 is normal.

could be a EAX filter

dont know how it would have activated but if your running
a SB live or audigy 1-2 with EAX you might have a EAX
filter activated.
if the software that goes with the sound card is installed
(1)you can goto start | run and type "surmix.exe"
or "surmix2.exe"
(2)a window should then open wiht mixer adjustments and a
EAX logo in the upper left click the EAX logo and there
will be a list one the right scroll up and select none :)

if you do have a SBlive and no software it can be
downloaded at www.creative.com

hope that helps
