sounds plays in Windows Media Player, but not on PowerPoint slide

In some instances, a linked mp3 file plays in Media player, but not when
embedded in a PowerPoint slide. The file and the .ppt program are in the same
folder along with other files that work.

Does anybody have a clue?? I have even uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft
Office 2003 (with all of the updates) without success.

I'd suspect the path length. Since some play and some don't (I assume that's
what you were saying below), try shortening the name of the problem MP3
files.

As well as a shorter name as Echo suggests you could try not linking

Same thing happens with .avi files. In some cases, the video clip takes over
the whole screen. This was not a problem with previous version of PP. Seems
very much like a bug in 2003 version of PP that needs to be fixed.
