Question RE: Windows Media Player in Powerpoint

In Powerpoint 2003, I have a slide with a video (Windows Media File).
When I have a external projector hooked to my computer, and the slide
plays, Windows Media Player automatically brings up the video in full
screen (thus I can't see the slide). But, when the projector is not
hooked up, the video plays WITHIN the slide (how I want it) How can I
have the video simply play on the slide and stop Windows Media Player
from opening up in full screen on the external projector? I've
checked the object properties, and the "view full screen" is NOT
checked. And, I do not know if this is a setting in Powerpoint, or if
it is a setting in Windows Media Player. I have exhausted all
resources I can think of. Please help! Thank you!!!

It's probably a setting on your graphics card. See if you can find settings
for overlay or theatre mode.

Thanks John for your quick reply...I have found the settings for my
graphics card (ATI) and in the help section both overlay and theater
are mentioned. Could you please help me to understand what exactly a
"theater mode" or "overlay" is - in simple terms (if that's possible)?

Thanks again!!!!

Video Overlay allows you to adjust settings.

Theatre mode usually shows the second monitor / projector with full screen
video (Though some cards allow you to adjust this)

There is often a mode that shows the same thing on both monitors. Sometimes
"Clone" or "Same on all"

Thanks John,
I have loacted the displays manager and have also located how to
"clone" the displays. I will try this out when I am hooked up to an
external display. I now have a renewed sense of confidence!!! Thanks
much and enjoy your day!!!

I am having the exact same problem using a laptop and a projector. I cannot
find the video overlay settings. Any suggestions? I, too, am at my wits end
on this problem! I actually got it to run the video while showing the slide
text one time today ... now it won't do it again! The only change I made was
in the projector cord.

Sue, John's recommendations worked. I found the settings for my video
graphics card by going to my desktop and right-clicking
=>properties=>settings=>advanced. From there I was able to enter the
"control center" for my graphics card (ATI). It may be different for
yours. Once in, I was able to search the help files for how to adjust
the displays (to theater/standard) modes and to clone the monitors. I
hope this helps...good luck!
