I have my scanner radio hooked into the sound card by a line in, and I have
no problem recording the audio and having the audio files saved to my hard
drive so I can go in and listen to the multiple sound file that are being
saved but this is the problem I am experiencing.

If the scanner radio is hook up and logging audio files and I go into the
directory and start listening to the audio files that are saved with Windows
Media player, after I am finished doing that about 45 minutes later the
computer blue screen comes up and it says something about having to shut
down my system so it won't be damaged. Why does this happen.

I used to have my scanner radio running and logging audio with Windows xp
home and at the same time I could go into the directory and listen to the
audio file at the same time, but for some reason Windows Vista Home Premium
will not let me do this.

The software that you're using to record from line-in may not be fully
compatible with Vista. You could look for an updated version, or try some
other recording software.
