Apparently other inputs have been muted.

Do you see a loudspeaker icon in the System Tray (near the clock, most
likely down right)?
If not, get it there by selecting Control Panel | Sounds an Audio Devices |
Volume, then check "Place volume icon in the taskbar" and click OK.
Double-click the icon (you should see a mixer now), then select Options |
Properties | (Adjust volume for) Recording.
Deselect Microphone, select CD Player (I guess), and adjust the sliders as
needed.

Other software (like that included with your sound card) may manage its own
input settings in a similar way.

Make sure that "What you hear" or "Wave out" or "Stereo mix" What ever that
option is called in your sound card in the recording properties is selected
and make sure the slider is at least 10% no higher or your audio will clip.
Good luck.
