Sound Recorder

My sound recorder does not offer the Layer-3 format so I can save files as
mp3. I have other machines where this format is available. How do I get
this corrected?

One way is to install a free converter - from http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

The Codec Central link, near the top of the home page, offers codecs that
will convert many file types, including to WAV -->MP3.

Another approach is to install the MP3 codec found here...

Thanks for the info. I think I have the proper codec for mp3 in the
win/system32 folder. also I can see it when I go through the Add hardware
icon. I down loaded a codec for mp3 conversion and when I went to install it
I got a message saying it was older than the one it was going to replace. It
seems the problem is Sound Recorder is not finding it. So far I have not
found anything in any knowledge base. Got any ideas?
