Need Sound Recorder Help

My sound recorder does not offer the Layer-3 format so I can save files as
mp3. I have other machines where this format is available. How do I get
this corrected?
I think I have the proper codec for mp3 in the
win/system32 folder. also I can see it when I go through the Add hardware
icon. I down loaded a codec for mp3 conversion and when I went to install it
I got a message saying it was older than the one it was going to replace. It
seems the problem is Sound Recorder is not finding it. So far I have not
found anything in any knowledge base. Got any ideas?

The sound recorder in Windows only records in the wav format. There are
many recorders you can find <some free, some not> by doing a Google search.
I use Super mp3 Recorder Pro and it works great.
Good luck

Thanks Jerry,
I have considered getting another recorder and may do that. I Know the
Layer3 converter can be an Sound Recorder option because I know two people
who have it available to them. They don't know how they got it. I just
wanted to get mine to have the same option. I know the file is in the
System32 folder I just don't know why Sound Recorder won't recognizes it. If
you have any ideas please let me know.
Thanks
