Sound Probs XP... plz help

Hello,
Thanks for looking. I'm having a problem with a P3 1gig cusl2 system
running xp. Previously was healthy.

After a reformat the sound card is not working at all. The device (SBlive
value) is detected fine but it is not showing up on the sound and video
properties panel. The volume properties says "No Audio Device" and all the
options therein are blanked out. Also the audio and voice properties are
showing the playback / recording devices as "Modem #0 Line Playback" in the
respective boxes.

For the love of sanity please help me on this one....

Do you know that you need to install the sound card driver?
It is inside the driver CD that came with the sound card.
Download the driver from the maker site if you lost the driver CD.
