Sound problem in WinXP (bad sound)

Hello,

In WinXP pro, the startup sounds, I would say jerky. It sounds as if the
hard drive cause interference to sounds when it reads. I also have this
problem with other system sounds or in Flght Simulator: I hear it on the
engines when HD is reading. But: I never had this problem in Win98, so for
me it's not a hardware issue. It's only when the system is working.

Is the priority of the sound driver not high enough ? Is it a DMA problem ?
Thanks for any help... I can't live with that sound...

Best regards.
Setag

Hi

You may get more expert help if you post your question to one of the
hardware or sound card specific usenet forums.
(At our house, we've decided never to bother any more with the newer or
expensive sound systems (eg audigy platinum etc) as we've tried most of them
and have not yet found one that works properly without popping or other
distortions. We're back with some older, cheaper, more reliable cards)

If you got the "latest Driver" from the Windows Update site that is your
problem. Get the drivers directly from Creative.

First I had the Windows Update drivers. Now I have the latest Creative.com
drivers. But it did not change anything. I have this problem since the 1st
installation of WinXP and never had it in Win98.

But thanks for your answer.
