Sound Card problem?

Hi There:

Running an Epox board w/ via chipset and SB live 5.1 card on Winxp.

My problem is that when I play music (using any program) or video with sound
I often get a "stuttering" in the sound. The music actually stops and is
replaced by a short burst of ugly "noise". After this short burst of noice
the sound goes back to normal. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this?

You could try checking the load on the CPU and memory. This used to happen on my computer before I upgraded it

You can check the load by right-clicking on the task-bar and clicking on Task Manager. Then click on the 'Performance' tab. Assuming no other programs are running, those graphs should be near the lower limits. Also try disabling any Visualizations in Media Player, WinAmp etc....they are every CPU intensive
