New sound card, copmuter restarts when used, not a device conflict

Got myself a new sound card to handle my 5.1 speaker system, disabled my
on-board PCi and installed my newby. Works fine, nut occasionally when I play
music or videos the computer restarts.
There is no device conflit between the two cards - disabled the on-board,
and drivers are those that came with the card.
Im out of ideas

If it was in a laptop a cop muter device could be quite handy.

On a more serious note. What make and model of sound card? What make and
model of m/b? Have you been to the manufacturer's site and downloaded the
latest drivers? Have you talked to their tech support? It may be a known
issue.
