Sound Not Working Code 10 Error "this device will not start"

Hi
I have a sony vaio vgn ar-71M laptop, which came with pre-installed
Microsoft Vista, for the business reasons I changed the operating system to
Microsoft Office XP Pro. Since doing this the sound has gone. Currently I
have the driver IDT High Definition Audio Codec on my sound card which is
displaying the code 10 error message on.

I have tried rolling back and updating the driver, but still have had no
success with it. Is there any other options that any one knows that wouldnt
require me to re-install the vista operating system that the computer came
with. Thanks

Microsoft Office XP is not an operating system. I think you mean Microsoft
Windows XP. Your audio is not working because the sound driver for Windows XP
is not installed. Go to Sony's website and see if XP drivers are even
available for your model laptop. If it came pre installed with Vista, there
might not be any XP drivers for it at all. Which means you might as well
reinstall Vista.
