sound icon in taskbar

I have gone to the "sound and audio devices" in the control panel and
clicked on the box that says "put sound icon on taskbar". I click "apply",
"ok" and close the control panel. The icon appears on the taskbar. If i have
to reboot for any reason the sound icon disappears and i have to go back to
the control panel and do it all again. Does anyone know what i can do to
keep the icon on the taskbar?...thanks tom

I had very similar trouble with the taskbar and only way I had it
fixed is, by using the taskbar repair tool from Kellys-Korner.
You can try then buy taskbar repair. It does lots of other fixings.
