i have just purchased a secondhand computer that has
windows xp pro on it but it has no sound the seller tells
me i need to download a sound driver but i cant find any
is he correct or has he sold me a dud?

you need to find out which sound chip you have and het the correct driver
for it.

look in ... start>control panel>administrative tools>computer
management>device manager.

scroll down the device manager looking for audio devices. you may get a clue
as to the type of audio device such as 'realtek' or 'wdm' 'alc650' or
similar.

post back with the observations.
