I've got a clone with XP Pro SP2 installed. I recently received a pair of
speakers and thought I may as well plug them in. SO I did jsut that. The
jack was there - so I am assuming there is a soundcard on this machine.
However, I do not get any sound at all. When I go to the device drivers,
under "Sound, Video and game controllers"s there are a pile of things listed
there - all appear to be functioning normally. However, when I go to the
"Sounds and Audio Devices" applet, it indicates that there is "no audio
device" under the Volume tab and the audio and video tabs both indicate "no
playback device".

It appears that there is a soundcard installed. How do I go about getting
this thing to work???

Thanks brad

Try uninstalling and reinstalling with a fresh download of the drivers from
the mfg website.

Uninstall then reinstall the drivers for the card. Get them from the sound
card manufacturer's web site, or from the computer OEM's web site if it's a
large OEM like Dell or HP. It it's an onboard sound device go to the
motherboard manufacturer's web site.
