Sound delay after update to MMC9.08

I recently updated to mmc9.08 and cat5.8, from mmc9.03 & cat5.1. The
video and sound have a very noticeable delay from live TV which was
not present before update.

I used the ati removal program to remove the update and reinstalled
the previous Cat 5.1 & MMC 9.03 but still have the delay.

Anyone know what I need the remove manually to get things back to
working properly?

Thanks,

RAH

It's the capture/WDM driver, which has now gone digital: you may have
noticed that you're also not given the opportunity to select the sound
source on setup.

You may be able to revert to an earlier driver: open Sound, video and
game controllers in Device Manager. You'll see several ATI devices
there, of course: open the Properties of one, go to the Driver tab,
click Update Driver and go through the wizard choosing to see a list
of drivers.

If the previous drivers are still on your system, you may be able to
select a 6246 driver or earlier: if so, do that, complete the wizard
and do the same for the other ATI devices. This should revert your
drivers to a version that is still analog sound.

If you don't have a 6246 driver to choose from, download and install
the WDM driver for a catalyst version earlier than 5.03. You'll find
that the digital WDM is still in place, but now you'll be able to
change it in Device Manager, as above. I notice that the ATI site now
only seems to be listing display drivers back 5.6, though - hopefully,
they should be there somewhere, or you may have to look elsewhere...
;-(

Probably a good idea to uninstall MMC before you do this, and
re-install it afterwards.

Patrick,

Thanks for the info, i manually removed the ati files in the
windows/system32 folder left over after running the cat uninstall
program and reinstalled 5.1 cat and MMC 9.03 and everything is back in
sync. Now I have another problem.

My cpu appears to goto sleep randomly if the TV app is running with
any other app open. Has not happened with only the TV app running or
any and all other apps running without TV app. It goes to sleep the
monitor goes blank and the power LED blinks on the monitor, the CPU
stays powered up and the only recourse is to press the power button to
turn off CPU and start up again. No events listed in the event viewer.

Any ideas?

Thanks
RAH
