I got my computer back from the shop today after my hard drive died.
Everythings fine with a new drive and most of my old files but the guy
couldnt get my sound working. Whenever i go to install the multimedia audio
controller it installs about half of the files when i ask it to install the
driver and then reboots. The guy at the shop said it did the same thing and
wasnt sure what to do, he wants to charge me 15 quid to get a new sound card
but screw that. Surely there is a way to install this or fix this problem?

Go to the manufacturers website of the soundcard and download the
latest drivers, they are free.

already downloaded the latest drivers for my soundcard and motherboard, every
time the driver installation program causes a system reboot
i also installed the drivers in safe mode and was successful but when
booting up my computer reboots at the black windows screen every time.
