I recently purchased a sony md player. When i inserted
the software into my computer (windows xp) a box came up
reading "The software you are installing has not passed
windows logo testing, to verify its compatibility with
windows xp contact your system administrater." So i was
wondering if i could install this software on my computer
or not, or what the problem may be.
My Sony MD players identification number if this helps is
(MZ-N420D/RMH) and my systems identification number is
(55277-oem-0015431-61385) so if you can help me anyway
possible that would be great, thank-you for your time and
i look foward to your response. ([email protected])

Ignore the warning and install the software. Just because the drivers for
the sony player hasn't been through a formal test process by Microsoft
doesn't mean they haven't been rigorously tested by Sony. My SATA hard disk
drives, cable modem, proxy server software, onboard ethernet controller, USB
keyboard and mouse all come with drivers that have not been through MS QC,
yet if I didn't install them I'd have an unusable PC. Window's can be made
to ~not~ produces that annoying warning. Go to System Properties ( press
Win+Pause ), and under the Hardware page click on the "Driver Signing"
button, and then select "Ignore - install the software anyway and don't ask
for my approval".

It should be OK to install the software. But if you like, you can
check with Sony support to see what they have to say. I'm sure if
there are any incompatibilities with the software and XP they should
know about it.

By the way, that message you referred to means that Sony has not
submitted the software to MS for testing and certification, it does
not necessarily mean that it will not work OK.

Good luck.
