Sony DVD DRU-710A no longer works

I have a sony dvd drive that has mysteriously stoped working. It won't play
or record. When I run the troubleshooting it tells me that the drive is
running properly. I have tried unenstalling and reinstalling the driver to
no avail. The drive worked great for more than a year and it seems with the
latest xp upgrade it stoped working. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It certainly seems that your only recourse is to replace the drive.
