Sony DRU500A - Very Noisy

It works fine with CDs and DVDs but the background noise is irritating. Any suggestions?

Some 'cheap' drives do make a noise ... sometimes it's the cheap media (CD/DVDs) being used.


Sony is a little over-rated, in my opinion.

Easy enough to replace with something a little better.

Some players can be quite loud when they spin up, I don't know how you could get around this without changing it (or perhaps dampening it somehow).

I don't think you'll be able to get a "fix" for this unfortunately, but you could always re repositioning it within your case and see if it helps?

Yes - replace it with a Plextor drive.
