sony digital cam

When I connect my camera to my usb port and xp try's to
install the new driver(I've installed the cd that came
with the camera), it tells me it's looking for
SONYPVU1.sys. Any suggestions on how to get my pc to
where I can download my pics?

It helps to know what model you are using. The drivers you installed for your camera
may not be XP compatible if it is an older model. Look around Sony for XP drivers.

I always try to use my devices without adding any garbage laden stuff from
the manufacturer CDs. I have a Sony DSC P-10 and didn't find that the Sony
software added anything. It shows up as a drive in My Computer and also
launches Windows and Camera Wizard, out-of the box, no software added.

I had the same camera and the same problem. After I've downloaded
www.geocities.com/misplaceddrivers/ from a Sony criticus I had solved the
problem. The half year before I did not have any problem. It's probably the
politics from MS by XP.
