Just in case the first try didn't go through I'll re-write it for you. I'm
sure Tom, that if you are half as bright as you think you are, you no
doubt
have realized that the statement made regarding "shouldn't have bought the
Vista 8^0 is going to have a lot of people asking "Then why did you offer
it
to the public"? Hmmmm!

That's my goal! I firmly believe that no one should upgrade to Vista on
their current hardware. If you buy a new PC designed for Vista, then fine.
Other than that if you're running XP and it works, stick with it on your old
hardware until you're ready to upgrade your entire machine.

P.S. I like your degree. Is that real sheepskin? 8^)

Mr Urban. I had not seen your 7:17 AM reply. This unit has never had
anything else running in it besides the Vista that came installed and Windows
Live One Care. It has never been close to Norton or McAfee. Having had my
fill of ZNorton I set out to purchase what I BELIEVED to be the BEST on the
market TODAY.

In fact, my old XP is also running the same Total One Care and it is
perfectly fine. It was perfectly fine when I totally uninstalled Norton and
installed the very same Total One Care. Neither machine is or has been
infected with any viruses, worms or what have you unless Total One Care which
shows as perfectly fine on the XP but Fair here because of the constant
urging to backup files when there are no new files to be backed up. It has
one purpose only and never deviates off the same paths as is and has been the
case with the XP.

There are but a handful of sites I frequent and they are all business
related. There are no pop-ups and absolutely not so much as a shred of
pornography on either machine. If you want to get into specifics I will be
more than happy to speak with you in private but I will NOT divulge my
private information in a public forum.

I do not comprehend your attitude as every business I have ever been
affiliated with put Customer Satisfaction FIRST and definitely NOT attitudes.
I am just the guy who believed in you and THIS is what I get for it? You are
aware there is a problem and I am entitled to an answer/ a solution and if
there is none then I am entitled to be made whole.

Apparently RTO did. His blood pressure is so high he can't think straight.

I think that, for some, a brick to the forehead would still be 'too subtle'.

'NOW ANSWER MY QUESTION! I paid for stuff and I deserve respect from 'you
Company people'!'
(too subtle?)

You are saying that your new Vista computer did NOT come with either McAfee
or Symantec installed on it?

That would be a first as I have never seen an HP computer without one or the
other, depending upon whom pays HP more money to include their crap on the
computer.

I would not use WinMail for business. It's new, it's flaky and it's pretty
weak.
Try something like Eudora, Thunderbird or Outlook.

The machine has been online 1 week as of today. It was purchased brand
spanking new with Vista already installed. This is not an old machine that
has been upgraded. I purchased a Microsoft Total One Care to install in it
and 2 other Microsoft computers. Are we clear on this?

The XP that the techs couldn't figure out and would have trashed is now
running like a dream with Total One Care installed also. There are no
viruses, I assure you. I also purchased a Windows Anytime Upgrade and a lot
of other stuff to boot. Now, I would respectfully ask that you live up to
your warranty and provide me with some answers.

I STILL have a situation that needs addressing

Thank you.

First of all, from the tone and content of your posts, you seem to be
operating under the mistaken impression that 'this' is Microsoft.
It is not.
These are User to User support groups that happen to be hosted on Microsoft
servers.
Though genuine Microsoft employees might pop in from time to time to answer
a question or provide a tip, they are under no obligation to do so. Nor is
anybody else here obligated to do anything--it's all volunteer, and you seem
less than satisfied with the various responses you have been provided with
so far.
Secondly, for whatever reason, you decided that purchasing an HP computer
system was your best solution. Your beef is with them, not Microsoft--for as
an OEM, HP takes the support responsibility for both the hardware AND the
software that comes with their machines, not Microsoft. Your 'warranty' is
with HP. You should contact HP with whatever problems you may be having. Be
aware that a typical 'ultimate solution' from them will be to restore the
system back to the way it was when it left their hands (most likely from
your 'maxed out' D drive, which is likely to contain their restore image).
In the process, you will lose everything that you have installed, and any
other changes that you may have made to the system, good or bad.
If HP cannot address your issues to your satisfaction, you may be entitled
to return the machine to them for repair, replacement, or refund.
Good luck.

If your only problem is one stuck message in the Outbox, count
yourself lucky. As long as it doesn't keep you from using WinMail,
I wouldn't sweat it. Microsoft will come out with a patch eventually.

Just whom do you think you are addressing here???
The people here (like myself) who are attempting to help are just unpaid
volunteers.

Please stop demanding things.

Thanks Maxwell. I apologize for coming across the wrong way and yes, this is
my first day here and I am so desperate, having rebooted, ran the Live One
scanner and coming up clean, even restoring back to the date it was set up
and STILL that very same error that I wrote verbatem keeps coming back up.. I
have tried everything I can think of before coming to ask for help and yes I
am very tired not just from no sleep last night at all but from the many
sleepless nights that preceded any of this, which in effect precipitated my
going out to buy a nice computer. I'm still at it and just cannot seem to
find a solution.

By no means am I angry with anyone here. I have no reason to be but battle
fatigue combined with frustration does tend to bring out the worst in me.

I am trying so very hard and not making progress. Thank you for the
explanation. I just want to use the computer and to get some work done.
Thanks again. If anyone knows what to do I'd appreciate you sharing with me.
This began when I tried to transfer my address book, not email, to the new
computer. BTW, BOTH of them are clean.

I'll try any and everything Peter but neither of those applications have ever
been activated. I am so tired that I can hardly write proper grammar.
Thanx again Peter. I'll give it a shot and will be back & forth between the
2 computers.

Well, for that I truly apologize. I really had no idea. Everyone, please
accept my most heart-felt apologies. I've made quite an @$$ of myself. I
didn't kmow.

Max, I have to hand it to you. You have made a world of sense with what you
have said here and for this, I thank you. Yes indeed, BINGO! Sleep
deprivation, total exhaustion and a first visit here mistaking this place of
shared concerns and knowledge for something other than what it is.

I wondered why D drive was literally maxed out right out the blocks. It
puzzled me because it was this way right out the box. When the machine made
it's first backup there wasn't enogh space on Drive D. So, again, please
permit me to say thank you and that I stand corrected and hereby apologize to
you and everyone else here.

I'm sorry everyone!

Could it be as simple as a total restore back to Factory settings? How
would YOU recommend going about this being it is just a week old, I do have
recovery disks and backups. I've rolled it back to the third day but still
no change in the WinMail.exe application and I notice that along the bottom
thatthere is a Red X indicating the phishing filter is not working on this
unit but IS functioning properly on the XP.

Please accept my apology and give this some consideration. There were some
files and folders made for pictures I've taken and just a handful of
documents made that I can live without.

I am still confused as to why the email appears to be engaged with some
scanner or other application. Could pix sent to a 3rd party, another website,
somehow be part of the equation? I notice that the machine cuts up when I
upload to one site where they are stored and again if and when I send pix to
yet another.

In theory, as soon as one site has them on their server that should be that
but the pix are still linked to me and I've noted the Windows Generic message
stating they have encountered a problem and need to close and close they do,
immediately.

I've also created shortcuts and sometimes send the pix from my desktop
using the hp Photo and Imaging Gallery. When I go that route, just as soon
as I am done sending them over to the designated site I throw the originals
to the recycle bin.

Yeah, I can see where I've made several mistakes that otherwise on the XP
never before were problematic. Thanks again for taking the time to set me
straight. Truly, I DO appreciate it. I have some issues to deal with, for
sure.

I totally agree. These two companies will never again take up any disk space
on any computer I build or maintain. They just cause too many problems.

Seems to me your first priority is to get a working email program on
your Vista computer. You can always sort out the problems with Windows
Mail at some later date.
Have you thought about trying Mozilla Thunderbird?

Hi Gary, actually, yes I have considered it as well as installing the Outlook
Express program. I spent time with hp last night and it was of little or no
value as the engine that drives this hp is, if course, a Microsoft product.

I went into the Registry and looked at the actual configuration and the
reason for the problem became rather obvious. It probably would not be that
difficult to attend to but then I am going to weigh all options before I do
anything to address the dysfunctional WinMail.exe / MSOE.DLL situation,
including bringing it back for a complete refund or exchange for a more
stable OS.
Thanks for your suggestion. Duly noted.
Good day.
