gotten fouled up. it was working then i went to play something from a
website & it asked if i wanted the latest version. silly me, i said sure. it
then dl'd & installed something, and in fact played the music then. however,
the next time i tried to play a .wav i got an error saying 'wmp is not
installed properly and must be reinstalled. do you want to install the
player from the ms web site?' silly me again, i said sure. well it diddled
around when it was done, it still didnt work & i still get the same message.

i thot i would uninstall it a few minutes ago & reinstall. cant find out how
to uninstall. it isnt listed in the installed programs (that i can see) thru
control panel|add/remove programs. i looked in the \programs\wmp folder for
an uninstall routine & dont see one. so, how do i git rid of this git, and
get a version that'll work.

thanks for all help.

I believe WMP is a Winamp extension. Try downloading
Winamp (another Audio Player) and then uninstall it. When
done try to play something in your MS media player
