Hello
I am just getting to grips with Vista but I also have XP on another HDD.
Whilst copying over some files (to the desktop) and folders from the XP
drive some of them do not show visibly on the Vista desktop after dragging or
pasting.
The copied files are there, and I can access the contents, as I can see them
in the desktop folder but I cannot see how to make them visible on the actual
desktop disply.
Any clues please

Right-click on folder/file that you wish to create a desktop shortcut
for>Send To>and create a shortcut on the Desktop

Hi Mick
yes, thanks for that BUT why does it not work by pure dragging or copying as
per XP..Does Vista have a problem with this action. I have decided that I am
going back to XP after my brief encounter with Vista. It is all very nice
and graphically good but does not allow me the freedom I need to "tinker"
with the way I want to use my PC.
Best regards

I have discovered that If I make a new folder on the desktop first then copy
the files /folders into that new folder I can then drag the files/folders
out onto the desktop and theyu are then displayed as per normal. So whayt I
going on ????
Thanks for looking
