some computers can' t find printer

Hi

We are running Windows server 2003 on XP Pro machines using a Linksys
router. All stations are hard wired with the exception of the laptop.

The problem I am having is certain machines cant find a shared printer on
another work station, while others can. I can see the all the work stations
and access files. One of the computers that cant find the printer is the
laptop.

I have checked the guest account and it's enabled on the machine with the
shared printer. the printer is correctly ( I believe installed) as it does
work on the stations that can find it. I have also attempted to link to it
by the connect to this printer option with no success. I can ping the
machine that has the printer installed on it. I can also print to it from
the server, so the problem is apparently a setting on a few work stations.

Any ideas appreciated.

Hi,

it's sounds like a network connectivity issue, first of all i suggest you
exclude the local area connection from any firewall that installed on this
stations, if you not able to exclude one ethernet try to exclude the IP
range of your local lan, if you not able to do so to! disable the current
firewall and install a more functional firewall.

please make sure you have a static speed for all stations (that mean make
sure that all station sync to the switch in the same duplex & speed).

more ... please insure that the TCP/IP of the local area connection is
enabled to NETBIOS.

Cheers,.
