okay, can anyone tell me what software to get for a dvd burner, mine will not
burn, it is a pacific digital, 8x+-8x-, dvd rw+/-
I would appreciate the help, I am not real computer literate.

You will be getting many Nero recommendations, no doubt. Personally, I
like Roxio Media Creator 7.5, in spite of many bad reports of older
versions of this product.

More importantly, keep in mind that your choice of media may be
crucial, in the sense that media that works well in one burner may not
work in another. Worse still, my own experience indicates that media
may work well in a given burner using one application, but not another.
It is a bit of pot luck, but starting off with media that gets
consistently good reports is probably the first important step.

So, one wonders why your burner won't burn. Is it the burner, the
software, or is it the burner-media combination? You need to know the
answer to this before proceeding.

My thoughts as well. What have you been using? What does it do when it
"won't burn"?

Note that I don't think Windows XP comes with DVD burning capability as
standard - eg you can't burn DVD the same way as you migh burn CDR.

Most DVD writers come with free software to burn DVD. What programs do you
have installed on your PC?
