Hi,

I am using the 'run only allowed Windows applications' (User config | Admin
| System ...) I have added items such as notepad.exe and wordpad.exe. Whilst
most items work i.e. winword.exe (which is in the list) users are reporting
that notpad will not lauch from the GUI nor and *.txt files? how do I
workaround this?

Thanks...

Hi,

Thanks for contacting Microsoft newsgroup.

According to the post, my understanding is that you implement 'Run only
allowed Windows applications' policy but notepad can't be run even if it is
listed in that policy.

Before we move on, I'd like to collect more information for the further
investigation.

1. Does your Windows 2000 server have the latest service pack installed?
What is the operating system version of client sides?

Obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows 2000.

2. Are all users encountering this issue? Or just a part of them?

3. Make sure that client computer has gotten the most recent group policy
settings.

1) Group Policy Tool is available to verify whether group policy is applied
properly or not.

2) Try to refresh the group policy to apply the latest policy.

Hope it helps.
