software and driver problem

Hi, recently i have tried installing 2 different types of hardware on my pc.
I have the drivers for all of them but i seem to get this error message
everytime my pc searches for the drivers in the wizard 'the hardware was not
installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software'

the two pieces of hardware are:
6 port pci usb 2.0 slot
usb sound card

Presumably, both items were supplied with an installation CD and manual.. so
did you look in the manual first, or did you just do your own thing?..

Have you been to either manufacturer website for answers?..

What make is your USB sound card?.. Creative maybe?..

When the system looks for the drivers, are you ensuring that the correct
path to the drivers is showing?..
