Snapshot Viewer Control resize error

D

I have snapshot views (.snp files) that were generated from Access. To make
these viewable in Powerpoint, I add a Snapshot Viewer Control (from the
control toolbox) on each slide and then associate them to the appropriate
..snp file.

The PROBLEM is that the snapshot viewer controls get bigger and bigger as
you page back and forth between slides in the presentation and after a few
times through block out all other content on the slides. I have tried
numerous settings (Fill, Fit, different % sizes,etc...)...but have not
figured out a way to keep the viewer control from resizing itself
automatically..any ideas??

Which version of PPT? I think something similar happens with some charts in
PPT 2007, and, if I recall correctly, the fix is to reapply the slide
layout. I don't know if that will work since you're dealing with a control,
but it's worth a shot.

I am using Powerpoint 2003.

I keep finding things that I think solves the problem...and then something
happens and they start changing sizes again. The most recent thing that I
have found that keeps the controls the same size is that after I create
them...
1 - I run the presentation
2 - I click on each snapshot control (which zooms in) and then click it
again to return it to its normal zoom level. (2nd part not necessary for
success)
3) Once I get to the end of the presentation, I save it.

Voila...the controls don't resize anymore, even when I close it and go back
in. I havent tried it again after updating the snapshot files, but I suspect
I will need to do this each time.

Not sure about the reapply the slide layout fix since there are no bounds on
the snapshot control specified in it, but I will keep that in mind should
this latest fix fail.

Any idea why my fix seems to work?

No idea why your fix works, D, but I'm sure glad it does!

I wonder if it's got something to do with the controls now being sized
properly for the presentation as opposed to the editing window? (I don't
know, really...I'm just talking out my hat.)

Hi there, sorry to hijack. I am trying to do the same thing from Access, I
used the Control Box feature but is there anyway I can have that "linked" to
a file so it will update on it's own, or a way I can force an update? Like
inserting an Object?

Thanks so much,

Stephanie

I don't know, but you might select the control and then click the Properties
button on the toolbar. Perhaps there's a file path/url/link option there
somewhere?
