smtp (I think)

I am trying to send/receive (Outlook 2003, SP1), and although I have nothing
in Outbox it still says 'sending message 1 of 1). I have moved all mail from
inbox and outbox to another folder (which is now closed). I have deleted and
recreated email accounts etcetera. Any more suggestions befoer I reinstall?

(see belwo for context?)

I have just read a long thread regarding problems with Outlook and smtp mail
accounts since SP2. (server timeout, ssl authentication etcetera). I also had
the same problem after installing SP2, but as I trust a 3rd party firewall I
simply switched off the XP firewall.

Sometimes it seems to take a couple of attempts, but mail generally sends.

Outlook may be trying to send a read-receipt for a message you have either
read or deleted. Do you get any error messages when this is being sent?
