smtp/POP3 message send

Although I have no messages in inbox, I am having problem send/receive. I
have moved all emails to another folder, which is not open. I have deleted
and recreated email accounts (which work OK on another PC). Still I get the
message on the activity (?) bar saying sending message 1 of 1. ANy
suggestions before I reinstall Outlook

(Outlook 2003, SP1, Win XP, SP2, POP3 email account)

Context of smtp - having read the long thread on smtp/XP firewall problems

Reverse PS - sorry for therepeated send of this message - I kept on getting
an error message which said it hadn't gone
