can someone please tell me how exactly my configurations should go when setting up a simple internal e-mail system. My main server is seven.garland.local, my domain is garland.local, my email server name is garlandemail and i think im right when ive given all email users (e-mail address removed) e-mail addresses. Could someone please help, especially with setting the incoming and outcoming server information parts in the account properties.

I have downloaded a POP3 program called DMS POP3 Service, as i will obviously be configuring that to accept emails.

Thanx

Register a domain name and this is all a lot easier - no POP, no fuss, no
muss.
Then see http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF002.html
Change your recipient policy to use your Internet domain as the *default*
SMTP address (no need to remove the .local addresses) ....Mail will come in
directly to your server....you don't pull it, it just arrives.

So, this is not a Windows 2000 question, since this is about email, and this
is not a Microsoft product question, since you are using "DMS POP3 Service".
I think you would want to find your answers on their web site.

I've been wanting to play with the Windows SMTP service, in all my free
time, and have bookmarked "Manage Your Company's E-mail with the Windows
2000 SMTP Service -- MIND December 1999" at
<<http://www.microsoft.com/mind/1299/smtp2000/smtp2000.asp>>. That might be
worth a look, although I'm not sure that is fills in all the blanks.
