SMB too slow

When i go to my network neighborhood and enter any folder on remote machine,
it takes 20-30 seconds to load on a 100 Mbps network.
Why???

I'm having exactly the same problem, but only recently.
Nothing is running slowly on my machine, but as soon as I
hit the network it goes to snail pace. This is not
happening on other identical machines on the network. If I
open the performance tab in windows task manager and watch
this whilst navigating the network, CPU usage goes through
the roof (up to 100%) for the time it takes to open the
folder. The only conclusion I can come to is that it's
been caused by a windows update which I installed on my
machine but haven't yet installed on other machines on the
network - if I System Restore to before the last set of
updates, the problem disappears. Have you installed an
update recently? or resolved it yet?

Have you tried Start¦Run and entering the path to the
network folder? I've tried this today and everything runs
fine - I can navigate folders at normal speed. As soon as
I go to the network through my normal route it slows right
down again. any ideas?
