Windows Explorer slow to display list of files on network drive

I have a folder on one computer which is shared on the network, and it has
5000+ files (TIFF files) in it. When viewing this folder from other
computers on the network, it will take 30-45 seconds to view the list of
files. When one of the TIFF files is opened, it is very fast (have it
connected to a Gigabit switch, with each computer having a Gigabit network
card). When I look at other folders on that shared drive, they are very fast
as well (maybe 100+ files in the other folders). It is only that one folder
that takes a really long time to load (get the sweeping flashlight icon). I
have tried the registry edit which checks for Scheduled Tasks and Printers on
the remote computer before loading the list of files, but it did not help.
Any ideas?

Hi
It take long time to read through the network folder's FAT with 5000
individual entries.
Consider a subfolder scheme that keeps less files in one folder.
