I am experiencing avery slow shutdown with XZP home edition version SP2. This
did not start until I had installed Dreamweaver MX2004. Has any had a
similiar problem? if so is there a fix?

What reports appear the Application and System logs of Event Viewer
during the period of Shut down? Please post copies.

Restart your computer and note the precise time the Error occurs. Let
the
computer complete loading Windows and then look in Event Viewer for an
error report firstly on the System tab and if not there on the
Application.
Don't be fussy over a minute or two but ignore any messages from before
you restarted. Please post a copy here You can access Event Viewer by
selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching
the
meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and
Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;enus;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message(email) and do a paste into the body of
the
message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after
exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Gerry,
This is the eror message from the event view log file. I clicked on the link
to Microsoft and found that I need to download a small program to cure the
problem. Howvever when I stated the Windows validation procedure, the
"genuine Check program" never completed so I could continue with the
download. The error log for that proble is the same one as this one. Yikes!
I am now going to uninstall Dreamweaver and try to get the download
completed.

Do you know the exact version of Dreamweaver you have? It will be

Gerry,
I figured outthe probel. I found that if i shut off my Norton Internet
security, it allows Dreamweaver to fully shutdown. I then have no problem
with windows shutdown.
Thanks for your assistance!

Paul

Have you managed to configure Norton Internet Security to allow
Dreamweaver to close or have you disabled Norton Internet Security? The
first would be preferable? Is there an entry in one of the Norton event
logs, which might help?
