I want to begin by saying that I have seen this issue
posted in groups but have never seen a resolution. I have
searched many groups for an answer, before posting, to no
avail. With that said, I apologize if this is heavily
repeated.
I have a network around 60 users which are running Windows
XP and some Windows 2000. Out of these 60 users, I have 3
computers, all running XP, that have issues opening files
in Windows Explorer. If there is a shortcut to the file on
their desktop it opens incredibly slowly. If they open
Windows Explorer to search a directory Windows Explorer
opens 30 seconds after clicking on it.
This lag does not occur if they open a program like Excel
or Word and do a File>Open. Two of the computers are
running Office XP Pro and one is running Office 2003 Pro.
All 3 of the machines in question, are different Dell
computers. One is a Dimension 4550, one is an Optiplex
GX270, and one is an Inspiron 8200.
I guess I don't feel that the fact we are currently
migrating from a NT domain to a 2003 domain is relevant,
due to the fact it is not happening to all the machines.
Any help to issue would be greatly appreciated.
