Slow to Start and Slow to Run

I am running XP pro SP2. Within the last couple of days the computer has
become less than useless. It takes over 4 minutes from when the first XP
screen appears to when I can select a user. The rest of the startup process,
Loading Spy Sweeper, etc takes a similar amount of time and once everythin
is running, the CPU utilization is close to 100%.

I've cleaned out my autoupdate log files and installed kb927891 which didn't
help

Something has suddenly changed, and the most likely thing these days is an
infestation of malware.


I recommend that you go to Malke's Malware Removal site at

the instructions there.
