slow shutdown

I tap "Start", then "Turn off computer" & then there's a
long wait for the 3 option dialog box to appear & another
long wait for the shutdown/standby to occur. Never used
the Hibernate option on shutdown. History- Had problems
installing SP2. Ended up doing a "semidestructive"
reinstall to put SP1 back & also fix several other
problems I've been ignoring until the loss of SP1 got my
attention.I suspect there's a setting that I can adjust
to solve this pbm.

I solved my own problem----Even though I cleaned out all
the junk out of the registry & the files(System Mechanic)
plus defragged when I finished my reinstall I decided to
do it again even though it didn't appear to need it. ----
It's a real "smoker" now. Must have been stuck behind a
file.--
